2000 series cars on a Lake B pass the old and new Tower 18 at Lake and Wells.
Back then the Loop ran counterclockwise, and the Lake cars operated on the inner loop. Operationally this meant that inbound and outbound, Lake cars had to switch sides.
When Lake was thru-routed with Dan Ryan in September 1969, the Loop was made two way. We are in the midst of the construction project.
'Old' Tower 18 (on the right) will be demolished later in the summer to install the new northbound track from the Loop to the North Side and the new eastbound track from Lake onto the Loop.
The 'new' Tower 18 is already in place behind the first car of the train.
