On September 21 1938, a devastating hurricane prompted the Conn. Company to convert their Hartford to Glastonbury line to buses. This is 2022, part of a small operation which continued at the Pratt and Whitney plant in Glastonbury so that freight could be interchanged to the New Haven Railroad. Express cars 2022 and 2023 were equipped with Yellow Coach bus engines and continued to switch freight cars until replaced by a NYNHH diesel in the early 1960s.
