Ex-NYC 4715 is an S-2 S Motor electric locomotive built in 1906 by Alco/GE, shown here on April 21 2002. Formerly New York Central 115, the engine was originally 3415 and also wore 1115 while on the NYC.
It was retired by Conrail around 1980 and acquired by the Shore Line Trolley Museum, but could not be moved to the museum site due to weight restrictions.
It was then acquired by IRM, where it has been on display since 1981.
During the late 1980s and early 1990s 4715 was operated at Union using a South Shore Line pantograph that IRM retrofitted to the unit,
making it the only S Motor ever to operate outside of the New York City area.
