Johnstown Traction Co.
Johnstown, Pennsylvania
This picture was taken at the top of Chandler Ave. on the Morrellville Route.  Car #411 to Ferndale is getting ready to turn left onto Strayer St.  Where the streetcar is stopped is near the former Clark's Dairy Store. This is the car stop that I used to use when I was a boy.  This was a popular stop because anyone that needed to go to Oakhurst from here would have to get a transfer and take the bus. The bus usually parked on Strayer St. to the right of this picture. The only time that a streetcar went to Oakhurst was at about 6 a.m when a special double-end streetcar went up to the end of the line and then came back.  It was used to pick up the workers who worked in Bethlehem Steel Co. who were going for the 7 a.m. shift. I lived on Strayer St. and from my house as a boy could see all of the action.
