KEY TRAIN JUMPS TRACK,   HITS STORE----
East Oakland Traffic Blocked for Hours;  Conductor Injured------------
East Oakland automobile and rail traffic was disrupted at 4:45 a.m. today when a Key System train hit an open switch and jumped the tracks at 38th Avenue and East 14th Street and crashed into a row of store buildings.
The train was outbound on East 14th Street at the time and carried no passengers, but H.C. Elliot, 32, of 2008 Emerson Street, Berkeley, the Conductor, was cut and shaken up. The Motorman, J. Collins, of 4608-Market Street, escaped injury.  There was little traffic at the time of the accident or the damage and injuries might have been great, police said.
