1058 was a creation by the late Richard Fellows from the body of 983, which had been retired in 1950. The real PE Tens only numbered up to 1057. The 1058 had rubber tires, a concealed diesel engine and modified controls which look authentic, but allowed the 1058 to be driven on city streets without tracks. In one sense, it was the ultimate model railroad piece, at 12 inches to the foot.

It is shown here at Del Amo Station on the Metro Blue line on opening day, July 14 1990.

It was subsequently converted back to electric rail operation for the San Pedro Waterfront Red Car.
