88 on the A line at Vermont and Fountain in 1946. The Fountain trackage was one of the very few stretches of single track on the entire LARy system.
Vermont was not the original end of the line. It had gone across Vermont to Edgemont, being cut back first to Berendo and finally to Vermont.
I have no idea why, but there can't have been much business on a the W linehich paralled the busy Sunset Blvd bus line (also an LAMC operation).
