1273 on the 5 line at the Division 5 carhouse on August 26 1955.
5 cars could come down 54th St. from Crenwhaw to pull in. On the south end, Division 5 was the closest to the 5 line.
Visible to the right is the switchman's shanty. Pappy Long used to work there. If you will notice the horizontal white strips on that shanty, this where the the switchman would hang extra dash signs.
I told Pappy once that I didnt need to steal the signs, as I was going to buy them from LATL (true).
His answer that this meant that I was going to take them off the cars as they went by. A real character he was.
