1445 on the W line at Washington and Normandie. I think that is one of the Washington Blvd. cemeteries to the left of the car. Somebody with a more dead-on identification can help, no doubt.
It is clear that many car 1416-1450 photos were taken near the end of service on these lines, hence 1955, because it was only at that late date that H-3s got assigned to the the W, F and S lines.
By this time, service had been reduced to an extent that permitted assigning them to all lines, not just the 5 and occasional others.
While some may think me hard-hearted, the fact is that LATL reduced service in response to a declining transit habit -- it was not the reduction in service that caused the decline in riding habit.
Indeed, those lines that remained heavy stayed as rail lines until it the LAMTA bustituted them. We still wonder why.
