The trolley line trestle
This shows one of the fixtures that allows either trolley poles or pans to cross the swing gate assembly.  It's a brass "U" channel ground down on one end.  When a pole comes along it simply rides in the channel, but a pan is pushed  down and rides across the bottom of the fixture.
