Second Ave Railroad 52, a convertible in closed configuration
The Second Ave Railroad ran two major lines; Second Ave and First Ave in Manhatttan. The car shown was originally owned by the Metropolitan Street Railway and passed over to the Second Ave when the Metropolitan fell apart in 1908 and was virtually dismembered. The car was rebuilt to convertible format along with many other similar cars and this type was the mainstay of the Second Ave's operation.
