Throughout its existance the "Dairy Route" could only boast of having three profitable years. During its lifetime it became the first interurban to have an automatic sub-station and in later years used lightwight one man cars. Also, its owner B. J. Arnold, purchased a surplus WW1 submarine engine to generate power at Marengo. Operation ceased on March 9, 1930. The cars sat at Marengo until the late '30's at which time they were cut  up for scrap. Today a
portion of the railroad is used by the Illinos Railway Museum.
