Marion Railways 16 was formerly Indiana Railroad 88. It was third hand because Indiana Railroad had purchased it from Detroit Street Railway in 1924.
The exact Detroit number is unknown but it was one of a group of 50 St. Louis Car products built in 1922 and numbered 275-324.
Marion Railways was formed in 1933 after the Indiana Railroad gave up the interurban service through town.
A fleet of 25 single truck Birney cars was acquired second hand and maintained service up until June 26 1947 when the streetcars were converted to bus lines.
