Master Unit inbound at Drexel Manor Station

This stop is located at a circle just off of Cheswold Rd. Houses in the background are actually on Blanchard Rd. There is a narrow right-of-way walkway right next to the stop that allow access between the two roads and access to the stop.

The "80s," as trolley fans called them, were used mainly during weekday rush hours. Like the newer 1941 Brilliners (1-10) and 1949 St. Louis-built MU cars (11-24), they were one-man cars requiring only a motorman. The Red Arrow center door trolleys, preserved at various U.S. trolley museums, required both a motorman and conductor but found service into the 1950s for school service trippers and for snow and ice-breaker service.

The Ardmore line abandonment permitted the center door cars to be removed from all but snow service and charters. It was then that Red Arrow started shipping of the 60s to museums. Notably, 61, 66 and 68 acquired a plow and became work cars of sorts before being shipped off.

Merritt Taylor had 62 restored to Philadelphia and West Chester colors before donating it to the Seashore Trolley Museum. He ran several "fan trips" with it for himself and friends before it left for the Museum. I was lucky enough to be on the car with him twice including the trip on Red Arrow's final night in existence.
