5239 on Rt 60 at the stub-end terminus at Allegheny and Ridge in 1953. These double-end cars were the mainstays of this heavy crosstown route until a new loop at Allegheny and 35th was built in 1956, enabling the use of PCC cars.
When PCCs took over the line on June 17 1956 after the loop opened, 5239 was retired
