Note the single tongue track switch used by Philadelphia Rapid Transit and its successor Philadelphia Transportation Co. for turnout installations. Single-tongue switches became passé in the 21st century in some cities, notably New Orleans, as European style double tongue trolley switches were laid in new trackage installations.
