C Street parallels Broadway one block north, where the SDER trolleys ran until 1949. The train is signed for the (then) last stop on the Blue line in Mission Valley. The line has subsequently been extended.
The first 24 cars (1001-1024) were delivered without air conditioning and tinted glass windows in order to save money. Later these features were installed.
