293 was built by the St Louis Car Company (order 795) in 1908 as a trailer car for the Seattle Electric Company. It originally was a center entrance/center exit car with the rear section open above the belt rail. The center entrance/exit area was protected by folding gates.

These cars may have been built to carry extra traffic to the Alaska- Yukon-Pacific Exhibition held in 1909. Eventually 26 of these trailers were rebuilt into closed motor cars with front & rear doors. I think they ran until the end of streetcar service in 1941.
