Those appear to be the old O-4 cars that ran from Clayton, Mo. out to the Ladue City Hall, where they had a reversing loop around the combined City Hall Fire Station. The total distance was maybe three miles one way. They ran through valleys in the hills, following creeks, and one stop was at John Burroughs School, my alma mater (class of 1956) on Price Road between Clayton Road and Ladue Road. I used to ride them occasionally in the late 1940s or early 1950s, probably for a nickel each ride. It was a very picturesque line, generally running through forested, not densely populated, early suburbia. Clayton and Ladue are suburbs of St. Louis, Mo. In Clayton, or maybe University City, they interchanged with the St. Louis PCC cars from downtown St. Louis.
