This is a very early view of car 1605 which was an experimental one-of-a-kind car built in the Company Shops by splicing two single truck carbodies together. The photo was taken on the 155th Street viaduct over the 9th Ave. elevated that was abandoned in 1940.
Car is operating on the 163rd Street Crosstown line. The 1604 was very soon thereafter renumbered 1259, amongst the various second hand cars in the TARS fleet.
