It had been 20 years previous (May 20 1984 to be exact) when Miami Metrorail opened its first segment from downtown Miami to Dadeland South. A Metrorail train at Government Center on May 20 2004 looking south towards Brickell.
About six months later the rest of the line opened followed by the People Mover, followed by two People Mover extensions, and a short Metrorail extension west to the Palmetto Expressway.
