This commuter car is ex-Long Island Railroad 4153, an MP-54A1 type electric MU car built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1930, seen here on May 15 2004
Hundreds of cars of this type were once operated by the Pennsylvania and Long Island Railroads.
This particular example was acquired by the museum in 1972 and for a time actually operated there (note the trolley poles).
