Traction Around North America in the Early-2000s
Penn's Landing

One of the more unfortunate stories in traction preservation is that of Penn's Landing Trolley.  Organized by Buckingham Valley Trolley Association in the 1980s, PLT operated streetcars on the Philadelphia waterfront until evicted in 1996.  Around that time PLT also suffered several instances of vandalism, and in the end BVTA transferred all of its rolling stock to a group in Scranton (Electric City Trolley Museum).  The car pictured, ex-Red Arrow 26, had been completely restored by BVTA and operated before it was torched by vandals in 1996.  It was stored in Germantown in Philadelphia and was scrapped in 2009.
