The tracks leading off to the left of the photograph take one to the Edgeware Road shuttle, which prior to 1942 had been a through route downtown and out to the southwest of town.
That was the 10 line, which was broken into two shuttles in 1942.
This is how I knew I was a railfan, since the 10 line also ran with sowbellies, and along much the same the A lines the A.
My mother thought that all sowbellies were A cars (which is what we rode). Turns out that even before I was 6, I was continually telling her that she was attempting to get on the wrong car.
And to think that she got upset at my being a railfan
