1413 on the 5 line at Eagle Rock on October 6 1954 In the background is Colorado Blvd. About eight years before this date, the line continued to the right on Colorado Blvd. and proceeded east to Townsend, at the brink of Pasadena. In a time much before that, there had been a connection on the left with the Glendale and Montrose, which carried passengers to Glendale and a connection with the PE Glendale-Burbank line. Oddly enough, if one rode west to Glendale and then south to the end of the GandM, he would have connected with this very same line. The GandM was ultimately operated for freight (electrically, at first) by the UP, and the freight motor later went to Yakima Valley Transit, which I think was another UP subsidiary. This picture was clearly (pun intended) taken when a person could actually SEE the San Gabriel Mountains when he was within two miles of them.
