Louisville & Eastern
#111, American Car
& Foundry built, 1910, a builder's photo. The L&E began operation
November 20, 1901, and operated two lines out of Louisville, one projected
to go to Cincinnati, the other to connect with the Kentucky Traction &
Terminal to Frankfort. Built to 5 foot guage, it was impossible to
interchange with other lines. The L&E was sold to the Louisville
& Interurban in 1911, and all service was abandoned on
October 31, 1935.
