Coopersville & Marne
The car in this photo is
Grand Rapids Grand Haven & Muskegon #8, an extremely historic interurban
car built by Barney & Smith in 1902. The GRGH&M was a third-rail
line in western Michigan from which #8 is the only survivor; #8 is also
the only extant car with the open rear platform that was typical of many
very early Midwestern interurban cars. The car has been resided and
repainted by its current owner, the Coopersville Historical Society &
Museum in Coopersville, Michigan; the car is on display next to the interurban
substation.
