Red Bank
Jersey Central Traction
#50 in a Brill builders
photo. The Jersey Cenral Traction Company ran between South Amboy
to Red Bank and Atlantic Highlands. Much of the right-of-way of the line
to Atlantic Highlands exists today as a power transmission line. The company's
carbarn in Keyport still exists as a municipal building which I believe
houses the police department. I am not sure if they had trackage rights
over Public Service to serve Perth Amboy, but there was some shared trackage
in South Amboy. The late Walter Druck told me that a Public Service motorman
in the 1920's decided to take a joy ride and took his trolley over the
Jersey Central Traction Company's line. I don't know how far he got before
getting caught.
