Morris County Traction
#201 at the Wason plant.
This company reached from Newark to Elizabeth (via Public Service), then
west toMorristown, north to Denville, west to Dover, Wharton and Lake Hopatcong.
It had a branch from Denville east to Boonton also. It ran parallel
tothe DL&W between Chatham and Lake Hopatcong, often with feet.
In 1928, itsold out to Public Service and was promptly converted to busses.
The car
barnin Dover still stands,
now used by Lakeland Transit as their bus
garage. The powerhouse
survived as well; Lakeland has its charter
operations office there
(the building had also served as a junkyard's
office for many years.
