Halifax
Where single truck Birney
cars were concerned, the railways either loved them or hated them. Detroit,
Boston and Brooklyn are three examples of cities with large fleets of them
that they couldn't sell off fast enough. Halifax, on the other hand, with
its narrow streets and steep hills, loved them. They operated a 100% Birney
fleet consisting of 86 cars, 62 of them purhased second hand. Car
162 was formerly
Toronto Transit 2250.
