Halifax
Where single truck Birney cars were concerned, the railways either loved them or hated them. Detroit, Boston and Brooklyn are three examples of cities with large fleets of them that they couldn't sell off fast enough. Halifax, on the other hand, with its narrow streets and steep hills, loved them. They operated a 100% Birney fleet consisting of 86 cars, 62 of them purhased second hand.  Car 162 was formerly
