Although I'm no expert on
the subject, my understanding is that this
car was was modified with
added traction power to assist in pulling the weight of W31. Other
than minor body modification (covering of the standee windows, sealing
of some windows, removal of all interior seats excepting the motorman's,)
this car is similar to how it was in revenue service.
