Magee Shortway Electric
Railway
Bloomsburg
This car began life as a
kit from J.G. Brill and was assembled in Brazil where it operated in Rio
de Janeiro. In 1965 it and several others were brought back to Bloomsburg,
PA to the (Harry) Magee car museum. All but two of the group were
sold off to other museums around the US. Cars 2 (shown here) and
3 were completely restored for operation on the Magee Shortway Museum that
operated alongside the Keystone Shortway until June 23, 1972 when the line
was destroyed by Hurricane Agnes. About a month later, Harry Magee
died and the entire museum was parceled out at auction. Car 2 went
to a car museum in Sarasota, FL, since disbanded and is currently stored
in a warehouse in the Orlando area.
