Inbound on the Smithfield Bridge and almost downtown, the black on white temporary destination sign says this car is on the Charleroi interurban but signed for the short turn at West Library. The sign on the front dash below the window most likely reads: SOUTH PARK. The Allegheny County Fair was held here annually over the Labor Day Weekend (1946 here) for 5 consecutive days with intense service -- every minute or less. ALL Interurban cars operated outbound over the 38-Mt.Lebanon to Castle Shannon, then to route. ALL inbound Interurban cars ran normal route through Overbrook which featured some single track and 2-sidings. Wayside signals were covered; operation was line-of-sight! A double-end shuttle on the outbound Overbrook track ran between Castle Shannon and Oak only; it did not operate through the single track section. This provided a modicum of outbound service here.
