PCC Interurban 1644 inbound to Pittsburgh at Richfol in Canonsburg in 1948. The car sported Clark B2-A trucks which featured a sprung bolster instead of swing-links and rubber springs over the axles that were soft-vertically, rigid-horizontally thus rendering the torque arms extinct -- except something is needed to suspend the track brake. Motormen were not told about these trucks but returned to the barn with high praise for the ride. This experience led to the production B2-B trucks used under PRCo 1725-1799 and Toronto 4500-4549. PCC 1644 designation as an interurban was short-lived (from May 2 1947 until May 19 1949) when the car went back to city service.
