Rapid 109, built by St Louis Car in 1954, in March 1955 at the Windermere Yard.
"West 143-Lorain" was for the first Rapid extension which was built 1956-7 using capital obtained from CTSs selling its large Harvard Shops and other local sources. I wrote General Manager Donald Hyde and suggested that the station be named West Park because (1) it had more snob appeal and (2) was the site of a New York Central Railroad station of that name for West Park Village before annexation by the City of Cleveland. Mr. Hyde referred my suggestion to the Board and it was adopted. I was a special guest at the inauguration of service November 15 1958 and was allowed to ride the inaugural train along with the Mayor and other notables.

(How about that?). The sign was changed to West Park prior to service. The West 143rd - Lorain sign was never used.109 coincidentally was retained as the only St. Louis Blue, used as a trash car and restored historic car.
