Ex-Piedmont & Northern 5103 is one of the more unique electric locomotives to be preserved. It was built by General Electric in 1913, and seen here on May 31 2001.
Although it looks very much like the 1924 Alco/GE/Ingersoll-Rand/diesel-electrics, it is totally electric.
It has both trolley poles and a pantograph, and has been beautifully restored and is on display in the roundhouse at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer NC
