One of the more historic preserved steeplecab electric locomotives is ex-Pacific Electric 1544 at Travel Town, in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, seen here on August 6 2004.
This locomotive was built by GE in 1902 for the North Shore Railroad as the Electra, and in 1906 it assisted in the clean-up of San Francisco following the earthquake.
Later renumbered to Southern Pacific 201, it was sold to Pacific Electric in 1917 and came to Travel Town in 1952.
