Ex-Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority 1543 is a Blimp interurban car built by American Car & Foundry in 1911, seen here on August 6 2004. Originally Interurban Electric Railway 379, it was sold to the Pacific Electric in 1944 to become PE 4640 (later PE 435). Owned by LAMTA from 1958 until final abandonment in 1961, it was the only Blimp repainted in LAMTA two-tone green and white. Shown here at Travel Town in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, with one side and one end painted LAMTA green and the other side and end painted faded PE red.
