Ottawa Electric Street Railway
The Ottawa Electric Street Railway was the state's first electric street railway system that began operating on August 16, 1889.  On March 10, 1899, the Ottawa Railway Light & Power Company purchased the system, on September 11, 1903 the system was purchased by the Northern Illinois Light & Traction Company , and in May 1923 the Illinois Power & Light Company took over.  At its fullest extent, the system operated four lines.  The system was converted to buses on August 15, 1927.
