Rock Island
Rock Island Southern
These scenes are from the
16-mile east section from Monmouth east to Galesburg which was trolley
pole operated at 600 volts. Passsenger service lasted until the early 1920s,
after which electric freight service continued until 1950; however, the
ends sections only survived at the end, with trackage gradually being cut
back as deferred maintenance resulted in unserviceable trackage being abandoned.
Postcard scene of inorthbound
nterurban 202 on Main Street at the East Street station in Monmouth in
1906.
