Ex-South Shore 504 has a very interesting history. It was built in 1925 as a combine for Indiana Service Corporation, their number 377, in 1925. It is seen here on April 10 2004. It later became Indiana Railroad 377 and was rebuilt into an RPO for use in baggage-mail service. When Indiana Railroad quit in 1941, 377 and its two sister cars (375 and 376) were sold to the South Shore and rebuilt. This car was de-motorized and rebuilt for use as an express package trailer. It was removed from service and acquired by the Illinois Railway Museum in 1975.
