Car 1042 and another a car at the massive Youville Shops complex. The cars are part of a special Labor Day charter during the 1951 National Railway Historical Society convention held in Montreal that year. Youville Shops in the north end was where most of the heavy work was done on the cars. This is also where most were dismantled prior to scrapping when the streetcar system was shutting down in the late 1950s. Opened in about 1915, the Youville Shops were also used for making war material in both the First and Second World Wars. Today the site is the major repair shop of Montreal's subway, the Metro.
