Car 1549 turning on the east side of Place d'Armes, the eastern terminus of the 22 Notre-Dame Est route that ran to the eastern limits of the city, which at the time was at Avenue Georges V. Place d'Armes was a major transfer point between many car lines serving the east and west ends of the city. Buses replaced streetcars on this route on June 23 1957
