The April 24 1960 1161 charter is beginning the bi-directional single track outbound in photo 2168. Service was not interrupted; a turnout was cut into the tracks and shoofly constructed. Once operational, the mainline was cut away immediately after the turnout leaving a sheer 15-foot embankment that would be anything but fun in a derailment (which never happened!)
